Dumpster Rental Questions
Do I need a permit?
It depends on the town. Some towns require a permit even on private property; Falmouth, MA does for larger containers. A container in the street or right-of-way almost always needs approval. Each town page names the office to ask.
What can I not put in it?
In Massachusetts:
Paint, batteries, fuel oil, diesel, pressurized tanks and other hazardous items cannot go in. Mattresses, box springs, tires, rims, appliances, Freon items and large electronics can go in at an extra cost. Yard waste and dirt cannot be mixed with household or construction debris, so ask about a separate container for those.
In Rhode Island and Florida:
Hazardous items such as paint, batteries, fuel and pressurized tanks cannot go in. Ask before loading mattresses, tires, appliances or anything else you are unsure about, since some items carry an extra charge.
Will the truck damage my driveway?
Tell us where you want the container and what the surface is. If you are worried about the driveway, say so when you book and ask what can be done to protect it.
